Our Approach

Present Circumstances and Statistics

There are 8,000 children in residential care

33% of children in care have three or more placements each year.

11,000 children leave care and move into independence aged 16, 17 or 18.

In 2015, 4% of children who live in children’s homes gained 5 or more good GCSEs, compared to 16% of all children in care and 58% of their peers.

Our Standards

Looked after children need stable placements, somewhere they can feel safe and not worry about moving on without proper preparation. This will enable them to overcome trauma and develop attachment skills

Promoting education and having high aspirations for each child to ensure that the children on our care achieve their full potential and open up all the opportunities available to them.

Social pedagogy provides an empowering, relationship-centred approach to supporting children who live in residential care. Learn more.
